Motorola Krave ZN4 arrives via Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless might not carry the iPhone, casting jealous glances at AT&T’s way, but they do have what some might consider to be the poor man’s iPhone in the form of the Motorola Krave ZN4. This handset is pretty unique in its own way since it comes with two layers of touch, one on the interactive clear flip located outside while underneath that you get a full touch screen display. The use of touch is meant to ease navigation and accessibility, and Verizon Wireless has tried to do that by offering easy access to many of its functions and services with a single touch, despite having the flip closed.

The Krave ZN4, in essence, brings together the familiarity of a flip design complete with the excitement of touch and haptic feedback in a single device. You will be able to access all of the phone’s more regularly used features as well as services (watching V CAST Mobile TV, accessing photos, playing music, viewing text messages) via one touch access on the clear flip itself. In addition, with the flip design, you are able to place phone calls without wearing out the touch screen, although I would think a screen protector could easily solve any problems concerning screen wear and tear. Nice to see Motorola throw in a side lock to prevent accidental touching which could result in you calling Afghanistan.

Some of the Verizon Wireless multimedia entertainment services found on the Krave ZN4 include V CAST Mobile TV and V CAST Video, V CAST Music with Rhapsody 1.2, VZ Navigator and Visual Voice Mail among others. You will also find a 2 megapixel camera located on the Krave ZN4, while a built-in accelerometer is able to detect when and how the phone rotates, quickly countering that movement by showing the display in the right orientation. Bluetooth connectivity is also thrown in for greater connectivity options. You will be able to bring home the Motorola Krave ZN4 for $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year customer agreement.
